Mentor YKS is a mobile platform for YKS, the national exam students in Turkey sit for a university place. It has passed 100,000 downloads and serves 22,000+ monthly, 7,000+ weekly and 2,000+ daily active users, with 1,500+ new users a month and a day-one retention above 25 percent. I am the sole engineer on it and own product direction, architecture and the release cycle end to end.
It started as a single-purpose question bank. Over four months I re-architected it into a social learning platform: a content feed students post to, short-form video lessons, in-app messaging, gamified focus sessions, and a real-time arena mode where students compete on timed subject questions.
The app is Flutter on iOS and Android against a NestJS and TypeScript backend on PostgreSQL, split across two repositories. Every feature past the question bank is there to make studying social rather than solitary.
